IT executive says 80% of phone fraud in Russia originates from Ukraine

MOSCOW, December 3. /TASS/. Around 80% of phone fraud targeting Russians originates from Ukraine, Natalya Kasperskaya, CEO of InfoWatch and board chair of the Domestic Software Association of Software Developers, said in an interview with TASS.
“As for phone fraud, about 80% comes from Ukraine. There are call centers that operate there on a regular basis, making extortion calls. It’s clear simply from the way money is lost: a person transfers it to certain accounts, and then the money is quickly exchanged for cryptocurrencies and, most likely, sent abroad,” she explained.
Igor Lyapunov, senior vice president of Russia’s largest provider of digital services, Rostelecom, earlier said that Ukraine was responsible for most of the DDoS attacks targeting Russia.
