Remember the classic Aesop’s fable of the Tortoise and the Hare? Well, several people decided to bring the tale to life in the most unexpected way. A video of the recreated version of this story has gone viral on social media.
Shared by an Instagram user, the clip shows an actual tortoise and a hare as they geared up for the race, with their owners holding them at the starting line. Onlookers cheered as the two animals prepared to recreate the classic race in the video.
The fable tells the story of an overconfident hare who, convinced of his speed, challenges a slow-moving tortoise to a race. But, in a twist, the hare becomes complacent, takes a nap midway, and wakes up only to find the tortoise has won.
True to the original story, the hare bolted ahead, only to veer off course near the finish line, while the tortoise, in typical fashion, maintained its steady pace and emerged victorious.
It’s proof that some stories never get old.

As expected, social media users didn’t hold back from sharing their reactions in the comments section of the post.
“If bunny had won, our entire school syllabus would need a rewrite,” a user said, while another added, “Now I believe the turtle’s story – the rabbit did lose.”
One of the users said, “The tortoise knows how to keep moving forward; the rabbit doesn’t even realise it’s still racing.”

The viral video, much like the fable, is a reminder that slow and steady truly does win the race – at least, when the hare isn’t paying attention!
